So it seems obvious that if we increase our sales, it should increase the value of our company. Straight forward and simple, right? Probably, but generating more sales is not the only way to increase the value of your business.

First the Bigger Picture

Your business is a complex machine. Think of all of its different parts.

Think of the people and their range of responsibilities;
Think about where you are with respect to your competition;
Think about certifications your company holds;
Think about your client base;
Think about your assets;
Think about supplier agreements;
Think about the systems you have in place…

The list can be pretty extensive.

All of these are areas with the potential for increasing the value of your company. In fact, just about everywhere you look in your company; there is an opportunity to increase value.

That's the broad answer.

Then the Details

The key is in the details.

But to get you going, start thinking about your business as all of the parts that make it one. It's a bit like the human body. It all works together, but you have to take care of every part. Issues in one area can affect another. And as you strengthen one area, you affect others positively as well.
